NW 200: Laurits Mackness steps down from supporters’ club after 39 years
The Larne man, who has been at the front of the club, said: “The North West 200 is, and always will be, my number one race on the calendar and I’m going to miss the supporters’ club and all that it entailed.
“It has been hard work over the years, but I have really enjoyed it at the same time.

I am really proud that during my time in the supporters’ club we have, with the help of the general public, donated over £588,000 to the running of the NW 200.
“We have parted as best of friends and I wish them well and told Mervyn Whyte (NW 200 Race Director), when we met last, that if at any time they need my help they only have to ask.”
Following his decision, the club’s bank account was closed and £17,500 donated to this year’s North West 200.
