Joy for Jenkinson as vice captain delivers the win
Despite the heavy rain Bann started strong, putting a lot of pressure on Larne making it into their 25 within minutes.
Strong passing in the centre from Gail McConnell out to Sam Bann on the left hand side followed by a flick forward to Cathy Reese, resulted in a penalty corner to Banbridge.

Hide AdBanbridge utilised this opportunity well. A fast ball out from Elayne Brown to Alannah Magee, followed by a strong slip to the left beating the Larne defence, allowing Alex Jenkinson to put the ball in the back of the net making the scoreline 1-0.
Larne, however, did not give up. Fast movements from their defence made Banbridge work very hard to keep the ball in the Larne half.
Accurate passing around the back from Gina Woods enabled a firm hit from Charley Brush up the line.
Larne managed to intercept but failed to keep the ball under control. Elayne Brown took advantage of this with good support from newcomer D’Arcy Campbell, who found Lauren McGaw at the top of the circle.

Hide AdWith the Larne defender close, Lauren used her skills and speed to negotiate her way through the circle.
Poor movement of the Larne keeper resulted in a foul being committed against Lauren and a stroke was awarded.
Amy Atkinson stepped up on behalf of the team but sadly the keeper thwarted Bann’s attempt yet again.
In the second half Larne continued to be relentless and picked up on any mistakes made by the Bann girls, however, the Bann forwards kept the pressure on Larne and the midfielders worked tirelessly.

Hide AdA superb steal and run up the pitch by Heather Johnston won another penalty corner for the team, however, again, they struggled to convert and keep the ball under control.
The game ended enabling Bann to take three points but the game highlighted the need for Banbridge to work on their finishing.
