Northern Ireland’s netball team, captained by Larne Grammar PE teacher Hannah Irivine, were defeated 71-50 by fifth-ranked Malawi in their opening Commonwealth Games match.

Northern Ireland meet Jamaica in their second pool match today (Friday).
