Wreath laid in tribute to UDR veteran
Mr. McReavie’s funeral took place at Joymount Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Lieut McReavie had been a dedicated member of Carrickfergus UDR Veterans’ Association.

Hide AdA guard of honour was provided by Carrickfergus Sea Cadets from TS Warrior of which he had been a member of the management committee.
The funeral service was led by Joymount minister Rev. Richard Graham.
Lieut. McReavie joined the Ulster Defence Regiment in 1971. He attended Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England where all officers in the British Army, including His Royal Highness Prince William are trained.
On leaving the church, the funeral cortege paused at the UDR memorial at Joymount where a piper played a lament.

Hide AdStephen Weir, chairman, of Carrickfergus UDR Veterans’ Association laid a wreath at the memorial in tribute to Lieut. McReavie.
The lieutenant’s cortege proceeded to Victoria Cemetery with his coffin draped in the Union Flag andbearing his UDR and Royal British Legion berets, medals and pace stick.
At the graveside, members of the local UDR Veterans’ Association dropped poppies into his grave and saluted their comrade.
The Ode to the Fallen was recited by Edward McKnight, chairman of Carrickfergus Royal British Legion.

Hide AdMr. Weir said: “Jimmy was truly a dedicated member of Carrickfergus UDR Veterans’ Association. He gave so much of his time to our organisation and to Carrickfergus Sea Cadets and the Royal British Legion in Carrick.”
