Seamus Heaney honoured at tenth anniversary events
The events, one of which features Cookstown writer Nick Laird, will mark the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University, Belfast, and to coincide with what would have been the poet’s 75th birthday,
The Ulster Hall and the Lyric Theatre will feature readings by leading poets, including the British Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Ireland Professor of Poetry Paula Meehan, and the Belfast Poet Laureate, Sinéad Morrissey. They will read both Heaney’s work and their own.
