Moyle refugee fundraising efforts are continuing
The community of Moyle responded with a fantastic effort. Men’s items will be forwarded to Calais and women and children’s supplies will arrive mid October in Athens and Kos.
Kathleen McGarry, Moyle Refugee Group explained: “ With winter fast approaching, we need to urgently provide practical support to these familes who face the season exposed to the elements and without basic living requirements.

With the aid relief effort well underhand, the group’s focus has now moved to fundraising to support the already established groups assisting the women and children on the ground in Athens and Kos in particular. Volunteers from the Moyle area are financing their own trips to Greece in order to meet the aid lorries as they arrive and assist these charities with the distribution of the aid.
One hundred percent of funds raised will be used to purchase food and improve the living conditions in these camps.
To date, Moyle Refugee Group has organised a number of events including a pub quiz and a coffee morning at Corrymeela. The Quiz in the Anzac on Friday evening raised £1,273.
