Larne benefits cheat who fraudulently claimed £49,793 given suspended sentence

A Larne man has been convicted at Antrim Crown Court for claiming £49,793 in benefits which he was not entitled to.

Thomas Clarke, (47), of Fairway claimed the incapacity benefit while failing to declare employment.

He was given nine months imprisonment suspended for two years.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
