Fairhead snap up top awards
Despite the lovely weather of a warm June evening a good number turned up at Portnagree House, Ballycastle for the Print of the Year competition, judged collectively by members present. From the superb panel of entries on display Alfresco Dining by Club Secretary Kathy Stewart was the stand-out winner. Outgoing Club Chairman, presenting the award, congratulated Kathy on her success, which included a Third place in the NIPA (Northern Ireland Photographic Association) Novice Competition 2016.
Fairhead take part in the NIPA’s monthly Inter-club Competition between the 31 NIPA member Clubs across the Province. In each round a small number of images - perhaps 15 out of some 240 entries - are ‘starred’. Fairhead members Anne Mcdonnell, David Finlay and Kieran Casey all achieved this distinction. He also came 3rd ini the novice section of the Audio-visual Festival at Ballearl theatre, Mossley. At the AGM it was announced that he had also gained the Club’s Photographer of the Year shield for the highest number of points scored in the monthly competitions. It was fitting that the Irish Photographic Association recognised his skill in a delightful and imaginative panel of prints of flowers, awarding him its Associateship, the photographic distinction of AIPF.
